Unvaxxed NFL QB Kirk Cousins Still Isn’t Sold on Jab After Meeting with Renowned Epidemiologist

With the Minnesota Vikings having one of the lowest vaccination rates in the NFL, led by their star quarterback Kirk Cousins, the team hosted a renowned epidemiologist earlier this week.

After the meeting with Dr. Michael Osterholm, Cousins didn’t give any indication that his opinion on the Covid vaccine has been changed. In his first press conference following the visit, Cousins was asked by a reporter to provide his takeaways and any new insight he learned from the meeting.

“It was a great meeting. It was informative. And it was what it was,” Cousins answered. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for the vaccine from the Vikings’ leader.

In recent weeks, head coach Mike Zimmer has preached and urged his players to get the Covid jab, while expressing his frustration over the team’s low vaccination rate. Zimmer spoke very highly of the team meeting with Osterholm and the questions he was able to answer, but the coach admitted he was unsure if it would ultimately help convince players to get vaccinated.

Cousins was already forced to miss five days of practice earlier this month because he was in close contact with rookie quarterback Kellen Mond who tested positive for Covid. When he was eligible to return to the team, Cousins expressed frustration over the forced quarantine and suggested the potential use of a “plexiglass” fortress to protect himself from Covid in the locker room.

Cousins said he was “willing to do whatever it takes” to avoid another Covid induced absence, but getting vaccinated still doesn’t appear to be an option for the quarterback.
